Automation of Penetration Testing Eases Cybersecurity Officers in Security System Vulnerability Assessment

News_En Monday, 7 October 2024

In a significant advancement in the field of cybersecurity, Ir. Nur Rohman Rosyid, S.T., M.T., D.Eng., a lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, has been guiding several students in their final project for the Engineering Technology program, focusing on cybersecurity. The recent research involves the development of an application for automating penetration testing based on Common Vulnerability Exposure (CVE). This initiative is particularly relevant in the current era of digital transformation, where numerous challenges arise in confronting cybersecurity threats. read more

Computer Simulation Using Python Programming: Exploring the Potential of Copper to Reduce Vehicle Exhaust Emissions

News_En Monday, 7 October 2024

In the previous report, it was informed that a computer simulation using Python programming has successfully been developed to investigate the reaction of reducing vehicle exhaust emissions to harmless gases, specifically converting NO into N₂. In this study, copper was used as the main catalyst for the reaction. Copper is used in this study because it is more affordable and readily available compared to ‘premium’ materials like platinum, palladium, or rhodium, which are typically used in catalytic converters. Eventhough these metals are effective, they are very expensive and rare. In contrast, copper is much more accessible and widely available. read more

Reactor Simulation Using Python Programming for Vehicle Exhaust Emission Reduction, Supporting SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being

News_En Monday, 7 October 2024

A new study has found that copper, a common and affordable metal, could help reduce harmful emissions from car engines, particularly during the “cold start” phase when vehicles are first turned on. This research, published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry C and made possible through computer simulations using Python programming, could lead to cleaner air and better health for people living in cities with high levels of pollution. The findings also align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3: Good Health and Well-being, which aims to improve health and well-being for all people. read more

Research on Solar-Powered Temperature Monitoring System to Support Smart Farming

News_En Monday, 7 October 2024

One of the key innovations supporting the implementation of technology in modern farming is the development of a solar-powered temperature monitoring system for smart farming. This research was initiated by Dr. Fitri Puspasari, a lecturer in Electrical Engineering Technology at DTEDI SV UGM, together with her team. The main goal of the research is to analyze the energy consumption of the temperature monitoring system using the SI7021 sensor, ESP32 microcontroller, and integrated with the Blynk interface, aiming to create energy efficiency in the management of broiler chicken farming based on smart technology. read more

News_En Friday, 4 October 2024

October 4, 2024 – In an effort to support sustainable energy solutions, Candra Febri Nugraha, S.T., M.Eng., along with a team of students from the Electro Engineering Technology Program, has developed an innovative algorithm focused on optimizing the implementation of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. This project, conducted at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, represents a strategic step toward integrating renewable energy sources into the power distribution network. read more

Height-Based Sorting Conveyor System Utilizing Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)

News_En Tuesday, 1 October 2024

In June 2024, an innovative project led by Mr. Muhammad Arrofiq, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., was launched at the Instrumentation and Control Laboratory of Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Vocational School. This project focuses on developing a conveyor system that sorts items based on their height using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This groundbreaking system aims to enhance sorting efficiency, contributing to sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly in education and technology.

The conveyor system was designed to transport items toward a single exit. However, some processes require multiple exit points depending on the categories of the items being sorted. The research team successfully implemented an effective guiding mechanism that adjusts the direction of items on the conveyor belt as needed. read more

Hydroponic Water Flow System at Resto Bukit Cubung Powered by Solar Energy

News_En Tuesday, 1 October 2024

In August 2024, a significant initiative was launched at Resto Bukit Cubung in Jatirejo, Lendah, Kulon Progo, aimed at promoting sustainable practices through the integration of clean energy and innovative infrastructure. This project, a collaboration between the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Vocational School of Universitas Gadjah Mada and the local community, focuses on using solar energy as a clean, affordable power source for the hydroponic system.

The choice of solar energy as the primary energy source comes from the abundant availability of natural sunlight, providing a clean and sustainable energy solution. The hydroponic system implemented at Resto Bukit Cubung serves as both a functional and educational model for local businesses in Jatirejo. This initiative not only enhances the restaurant’s operations but also acts as a practical demonstration of sustainable farming practices. read more
