October 4, 2024 – In an effort to support sustainable energy solutions, Candra Febri Nugraha, S.T., M.Eng., along with a team of students from the Electro Engineering Technology Program, has developed an innovative algorithm focused on optimizing the implementation of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. This project, conducted at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, represents a strategic step toward integrating renewable energy sources into the power distribution network.
In June 2024, an innovative project led by Mr. Muhammad Arrofiq, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., was launched at the Instrumentation and Control Laboratory of Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Vocational School. This project focuses on developing a conveyor system that sorts items based on their height using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This groundbreaking system aims to enhance sorting efficiency, contributing to sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly in education and technology.
The conveyor system was designed to transport items toward a single exit. However, some processes require multiple exit points depending on the categories of the items being sorted. The research team successfully implemented an effective guiding mechanism that adjusts the direction of items on the conveyor belt as needed.
In August 2024, a significant initiative was launched at Resto Bukit Cubung in Jatirejo, Lendah, Kulon Progo, aimed at promoting sustainable practices through the integration of clean energy and innovative infrastructure. This project, a collaboration between the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Vocational School of Universitas Gadjah Mada and the local community, focuses on using solar energy as a clean, affordable power source for the hydroponic system.
The choice of solar energy as the primary energy source comes from the abundant availability of natural sunlight, providing a clean and sustainable energy solution. The hydroponic system implemented at Resto Bukit Cubung serves as both a functional and educational model for local businesses in Jatirejo. This initiative not only enhances the restaurant’s operations but also acts as a practical demonstration of sustainable farming practices.
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Vocational School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has successfully conducted a Kapita Selekta event for the Study Programs in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, as well as Electrical Engineering. This event featured skilled metrologist speaker, Ihya Ulumuddin, S.Si, from the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises, Legal Metrology UPTD of Kebumen Regency.
The event took place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM WIB, attended by 115 participants online with the topic “Let’s Get to Know Metrology!”. The event was moderated by Wijayanti Dwi Astutii, S.Si, M.Sc, Ph.D, who expertly guided the discussion.
Tuesday, September 24, 2024 – The Kapita Selekta event for the Study Program in Software Engineering and Internet Engineering was successfully held online, with 135 participants in attendance. This event featured speakers from PT Suitmedia Kreasi Indonesia, recognized as a pioneer in software development.
The session was opened by moderator Firma Syahrian, S.Kom., M.Cs, a lecturer from the Software Engineering program. The opening included an interactive quiz hosted by the PT Suitmedia team, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere for participants.
On Monday, September 23, 2024, a Pre-Construction Agreement for the Department’s Interior Renovation Work was signed in the Meeting Room of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Vocational School UGM, located at Herman Yohannes Building, Sekip Unit III. The event, which began at 9:00 AM, was attended by the Head of the Department, the Secretary of the Department, the HR Coordinator, and the Facilities and Infrastructure Team.
During the event, an agreement was reached with the contractor to begin the renovation of several rooms in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics. This initiative is part of the department’s efforts to enhance comfort and support academic and operational activities.
On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the D4 Electro Engineering Technology and D4 Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology programs at the Vocational School of Universitas Gadjah Mada held an online guest lecture as part of the sixth week of their Kapita Selekta series. The event took place from 14:00 to 16:00 WIB, featuring the topic “PT PLN’s Efforts to Prepare Talent for Global Challenges.”
The lecture featured Ghally Fajar Riadi, S.Psi, a Talent Development Officer from PT PLN’s headquarters, as the keynote speaker. The session was moderated by Dr. Fitri Puspasari, S.Si, M.Sc, a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the UGM Vocational School.
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the D4 Internet Engineering Technology Program and the D4 Software Engineering Technology Program held a Kapita Selekta public lecture on the Electricity Business Process of Java, Madura, and Bali. The event, attended by 144 participants, was conducted online from 14:00 to 16:00 WIB.
The keynote speaker, Yusuf Randy Kuncoro, Team Leader of Electric Power Transactions and Metering at PT PLN (Persero), delivered an in-depth presentation on the electricity business process in the Java, Madura, and Bali (Jamali) region. The discussion, moderated by Anni Karimatul Fauzziyah, S.Kom., M.Eng, a lecturer from the D4 Internet Engineering Technology Program, provided valuable insights into the operation and management of the power system in one of Indonesia’s most crucial regions.
Unan Yusmaniar Oktiawati, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer in the D4 Internet Engineering Program at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Vocational School, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), recently undertook a five-day academic visit to Japan. The visit aimed to present scientific research findings and explore collaboration opportunities with several renowned universities in Japan.
During the visit, Unan participated in the 14th International Symposium in Architectural Interchange in Asia held at Kyoto University from September 11 to 13, 2024. At this international forum, Unan presented research focusing on the development of internet engineering technologies within the context of architecture and infrastructure, attended by academics and researchers from various countries.
