Building Portfolio for Future Career: Shaping a Brighter Path

On Thursday, November 28, 2024, the Kapita Selekta guest lecture featured W. Diana Ratri, M.Psi., a psychologist and Operational Manager at PT Tiga Daya Indonesia. Moderated by Dr. Fitri Puspasari, S.Si., M.Sc., a lecturer from the D4 Electrical Engineering Technology program at UGM Vocational College, the event carried the theme “Building Portfolio for Future Career”. It aimed to provide students with valuable insights into preparing for their professional careers.

Held virtually via Zoom at 3:30 PM WIB, the event attracted 50 participants from the D4 Electrical Engineering Technology and D4 Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology programs. The session included discussions on crafting compelling CVs, mastering interview techniques, and strategically building career portfolios aligned with modern industry demands. Attendees were also given the opportunity to ask direct questions about navigating job application and recruitment processes. read more

The session welcomed Guhya Eka Wijaya, M.Eng., a Senior Manager at eWIDEPLUS Corp., Korea, as the keynote speaker. At the National Seminar on Research Results and Community Service (SNH2PM) which took place on Saturday November 9, 2024 at FRC SV-UGM Kulon Progo, an innovative technology to reduce energy consumption and an automatic feed system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) attracted attention. participant. Energy Consumption Reduction Devices and Automatic Feed Systems are one of the main highlights of the exhibition.

This tool is designed to optimize electricity consumption for various domestic needs. Meanwhile, feed equipment provides a practical solution for managing feed on farms. With IoT technology, this tool allows remote control via a smartphone application, making it efficient and easy to operate. The main feature of the electrical energy consumption reduction tool is reducing electrical power losses caused by inductor loads. This tool can increase energy consumption so that it is more efficient without reducing performance. Meanwhile, the automatic feeder has an integrated performance system that can provide feed periodically according to schedule or livestock needs, minimizing feed waste and also real-time monitoring, so users can monitor energy consumption and feed status via a mobile application. read more

The system, which had previously faced technical disruptions, was enhanced by installing higher-capacity solar panels and increasing the number of energy storage batteries. This improvement ensures a stable power supply for continuous lighting, supports visitors during night-time activities, and reduces dependence on conventional electricity sources. The revitalization not only optimizes the use of renewable energy but also contributes to a greener environment by lowering carbon emissions. Bukit Cubung, a popular tourist destination in Kulon Progo, faces challenges in maintaining adequate lighting for visitor safety and comfort, particularly at night. Under the leadership of Dr. Fitri Puspasari, S.Si., M.Sc., a lecturer from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at SV UGM, a revitalization project for the existing Solar Power Plant (PLTS) was undertaken to address these issues. This initiative included the installation of two new solar panels with a total capacity of 580W and an increase in the number of batteries to four units with a 100Ah capacity each, ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply. The revitalization aimed to restore optimal system functionality, provide stable electricity, and enhance energy efficiency. The upgraded solar panels improve energy absorption, reduce dependency on the PLN grid, and promote renewable energy awareness. Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) demonstrated its commitment to global academic excellence through the participation of one of its faculty members, Wijayanti Dwi Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Vocational School. Dr. Wijayanti represented Indonesia at the International Conference on Precision Engineering 2024 (ICPE 2024), held from October 23 to 26, 2024, at Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan.

Organized by the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE), the conference welcomed representatives from 26 countries and marked the 50th anniversary of advancements in nanotechnology, first introduced at the inaugural ICPE in 1974. The event served as a platform for leading experts in nanotechnology and metrology to exchange knowledge and share the latest innovations. read more
